Holly Ferling

Holly’s star continues to shine

02 Aug 2014

The star qualities of Australian cricketer, Holly Ferling continue on an upward spiral, with the 18-year-old announced as Spartan Sports’ first female cricket ambassador to headline the new “Athena” women’s range of equipment.

A sports leader, Spartan boasts a who’s who of global cricket among its band of brand ambassadors, with Ferling joining the likes of Australian Test Captain, Michael Clarke, West Indian powerhouse Chris Gayle, and Indian strike weapon MS Dhoni.

Spartan Managing Director Kunal Sharma is delighted to welcome Holly to its team.

“We’re thrilled to have Holly on board and excited about the next phase of Spartan’s growth including our new women’s range,” confirmed Sharma.

“Holly joins some iconic names in their respective sports that have chosen Spartan. We’re passionate about all things sport and health, and our products reflect our passion.

“We’ve no doubt that Holly brings that same passion and commitment to the team.”

The news couldn’t have been more perfectly timed as the Queensland fast bowler is preparing to shift her training into overdrive towards a likely return with the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars against a touring West Indian team in November.

“It’s fantastic to come on board with Spartan Sports who have some exciting initiatives planned for the future that I’m really looking forward to being involved with,” said Ferling.

“My rehab is coming along really well, I’m getting through the bulk of my workouts without any discomfort and will be back into full training with the squad in a few weeks, so it’s all very positive.

“Ofcourse it’s going to be hard watching from the sidelines during next month’s Pakistan tour, but I’ve been provided an opportunity to assist with the broadcast commentary which I’m really looking forward to.

“Having maintained my involvement with the Aussie team throughout the off-season has been great and I remain upbeat and excited towards the upcoming season.

The past three months have also seen Ferling maintain a busy schedule away from the training paddock.

Above average returns are just reward for her commitment to her first year of university studies, plus there’s been a host of promotional commitments with Cricket Australia and in her role as MILO’s cricket ambassador.

“I couldn’t be happier with my results at uni and am now ready to settle into second semester, which again will throw up some time management challenges but that’s nothing new.

“Last month I was in Perth for the IPSHA Winter Games where it was fantastic to see so many girls involved in grassroots cricket and enjoying the MILO T20 Blast games.

“I’ve also been involved in a national education program that’s being coordinated by Cricket Australia, plus there are a number of other initiatives planned during the second half of 2014 so it’s been a very exciting time on the back of our World T20 victory earlier in the year.”
