Premiership leading Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan has become the hottest young property in the horse racing industry.

The 35 year-old's rise to prominence has coincided with his two stable stars, the “Boom Brothers” providing him with career defining victories over the past two seasons at the elite level.

It started with Temple Of Boom in 2012 when he took out the Group 1 Galaxy Handicap at Royal Randwick and reached a crescendo in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 with Spirit of Boom leading his brother in the home state derby with the 'Boom Brothers' managing to quinella the Brisbane feature in 2014. In between, Spirit of Boom achieved his maiden Group 1 victory in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Gollan, whose ability to promote the sport with his communication skills and media savvy approach, represents the future for Australian horse racing. Whilst his horses have inevitably provided him with the perfect platform for success, the bravest and as it turns out best decision was switching from his Darling Downs base to Brisbane in 2012.

He now runs a team of 130 horses, with 55 currently in work from his Eagle Farm base. The champion horseman remains highly sought after as the perfect mentor for young racing stock as he continues to make every post a winner on the back of his recent successes.

Gollan has a fine racing pedigree; his father Darryl was an accomplished trainer in his own right and still maintains an active role in the Gollan Racing enterprise.

So too has the younger Gollan methodically observed, and moulded his own style on legendary Toowoomba trainer, the late, great Jim Atkins.

Prominent News Corp. racing writer Bart Sinclair expects big things from Gollan over coming years.
"There is an inevitability about Tony Gollan’s training career. Rarely have I been so confident about a young trainer rising through the ranks to stake a claim as a leader in his chosen career in an industry noted for burning so many talented young people.
