Boom Sport' Mnetoring Program

After spending the past two decades involved in elite sport as a player, administrator, education and welfare officer, coach and mentor, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of the formation and maturing of numerous young professional athletes.

So too have I been witness to many other aspiring careers being dogged by injury and external forces that bring a sudden and abrupt holt to that individual’s progression. Way too often these circumstances multiply and you have young, disillusioned men and women spiralling towards negative outcomes.

My name is Andrew Dunemann and I would like to outline to you a devised mentoring program which will provide valuable insights, education and guidance to the youth of today, using sport as the perfect vehicle to deliver the key messages of motivation and inspiration.

The unique program has been developed to ensure Australia’s future is directed by a more responsible and socially aware group of individuals, and delivered by a number of known elite sportspeople and specialists in their field as facilitators.

Above all else the underlying elements of the program seek to instil a new-found confidence in participants, ensuring individuals never feel they have to be defined by their circumstances. From this initial platform no matter the outcome, today’s youth will be on a positive path towards attaining self fulfilment and achieving goals they may have even thought were out of reach.

Pivotal to the program are ambassadors with whom students will easily align themselves; athletes who have unique stories relating to their own battles, their strategies in overcoming enormous hurdles to ensure the rewards they now enjoy, but also having the foresight to realise their sporting careers are temporary and taking advantage of their unique circumstances to mastermind successful outcomes for the future.

As you’ll see below, I’ve provided a simplified snapshot that outlines the  full gamut of possible inclusions within a full-day itinerary on-site at your school, or if preferred we can also facilitate the program across a couple of days in a camp-style environment on the Gold Coast or an agreed venue.

Comprehensive elements of the BOOM Sports: Mentoring Program are proposed to include, but not limited to:

  1. mental health and welfare
  2. alternative training - overcoming mental/physical fitness plateaus
  3. legals/finance/banking
  4. nutrition
  5. brand awareness
  6. communications
  7. personal and asset insurance
  8. team building activities

Facilitators who will join me as part of the program will potentially include:

Holly Ferling - 18 year-old Queensland and Australian Women’s Cricket representative
Daniel Rich - Brisbane Lions mid-fielder, 2009 Rising Star and AFLPA Best 1st year player
Shannon Eckstein - 4-time World and 8-time Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman champion

As an alternative, or to reinforce the mentoring program, we’ve been in ongoing discussions with Queensland Education Minister, John Paul Langbroek as we’d like to see Australian women’s cricket fast bowler, Holly Ferling become an ambassador for schools throughout Queensland. Your feedback on such a proposal would be greatly appreciated. See attached recent correspondence with the Minister who suggested I make contact with Queensland schools to source future interest in having Holly attend your school.

What makes Holly’s achievements most extraordinary is the fact she completed her HSC at Kingaroy State High School in 2013, securing an OP2, while fulfilling her State and National cricketing commitments. Holly is now studying full-time at the University of Queensland to become a high school PE teacher and is preparing for a tour of the West Indies later this year. Since the start of this year, Holly has also been fulfilling commitments as Milo's first ever female cricket ambassador, alongside all-rounder James Faulkner and Australian Captain Michael Clarke.

Despite her age, Holly is already a two-time Twenty/20 World Cup winner, has competed in back-to-back Ashes Series against England and was a member of this year’s Queensland Fire team which won the national Twenty/20 Championship title, the first of its kind for the State.

Such is Holly’s appeal and confidence as a motivator and inspiration to Queensland’s youth, we would be happy to discuss more intimate opportunities with Holly to visit your school into the future. Please see attached a personalised letter from Holly detailing her interest in visiting your school.

I trust you will see great appeal in these opportunities and would appreciate the time to discuss elements of the program in greater detail at your convenience.

Thanks for your consideration and be sure to have a great day.
